The latest Land Registry figures for December 2021 show just how strong the local market was in 2021. This was particularly true of the prime market. Competition from across the country for the most valuable houses in North Yorkshire was remarkable, and some extraordinary premiums were achieved.
Strong interest for houses in Yorkshire has carried into 2022, with demand more than doubling in January from December last year (Propertymark). New houses for sale coming to the market is still low though, with 50% less homes on the market in January this year than January 2021 (Propertymark).
Rightmove’s house price index for February 2022 reported growth of 6.2% in Yorkshire and Humberside. This is a staggering figure. We are watching the market very carefully, but for as long as stock levels are low, doubt we will see growth slowing significantly.
Hewetson and Johnson have some exceptional homes coming to the market this spring and we are beginning to meet with more prospective sellers as the year progresses. As so many sales are taking place off market it does pay for buyers to contact agents now to have a chance of seeing the best homes prior to formal marketing.
